Bad luck in St Maarten

Postby Triple_7 » Tue Aug 03, 2004 6:25 pm

I think I am cursed... On the way to TNCM My Kingairs right engine failed 10 minutes out...  But today I decided to charter a 737 to fly around the island and take some photos... But shortly after takeoff, all hell broke loose.....

Someone on the beach snapped this photo while we lined up for takeoff.  Little did they know what they were soon to witness.

Another shot taken a few minutes later revieled our 737 returning with a large dark trail of smoke coming from one of the engines.
Image
Tower shocked to find out we also have no landing gear.  Though it is to late to warn the crew.  Maho beach was quickly cleared due to the doomed aircraft about to screem overhead nearly half loaded with fuel.

Skiding to a stop with sparks and flames flying.

Finaly stopped and abandoned.  Terminal was evacuated for fear of an explosion.   No one was hurt but the aircraft was a complete loss.

:)

Thought so - looks familiar - wouldn't be my all white paint kit version by any chance would it?

If it is I'll have to take the appropriate action for flagrant texture abuse...... ;)

This scenery was found over at Avsim.  Dont know if it would work in 2004 or not.  But im sure there are even better versions for it.  I think the title for the 2002 version is ST Maarten 2002.     Just go to Avsim and look up St Maarten for whatever flight sim you are running.

One warning though... Looks great but it is a bit of a frame rate killer.
