if you delete pictures at the requerst of a police officer, then he must have thought you are doing something wrong and as such has he not then violated due process?

No. I think asking you do delete photos would violate the protocols of most police departments, but if you delete the photos, that's you being stupid and the officer isn't responsible.

Of course, if the photos were vital to a case, then the officer would be guilty of accessory or conspiracy to obstruct.

Due process is pretty much only the bill of rights, Miranda, and a few privileged conversation, correspondence, and records. Pretty much just covers your right to a fair trial, and your right to not be incriminated by yourself, your spouse, defense attorney, etc...

Ok, I thought due process was the process of law in the correct manner of processing a person through the system. It is always interesting to see via threads like this how different laws and the "processes" of law are in the countries of various members.

2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

Actually, you're right. Due process does cover your right to be processed correctly. It's late here, and I been writing for the past week and can't think straight anymore.

Do you know of an American version?

You can download an American photographers rights guide here. http://www.sirimo.co.uk/2009/05/14/uk-photographers-rights-v2/

It's a good idea to know where you stand but whether it will do you any good depends on circumstances.

At the airport where I work, if we spot someone hanging out near the fence, we will usually just ride over and question them.  We are very friendly, but we also have a job to do, with aviation security being what it is today.

I've also met quite a few very objectionable photographers & spotters who give the hobby a bad name.

Indeed. In fact I believe the spotterwatch system was initially set up after certain unbelievably stupid and selfish spotters thought it was ok to take wire cutters to the security fence to fit their lenses through.

As I say, unbelievable. Also the ladder users (at the front) and people who freeload at airshows.
