Herky birds!

Postby Mictheslik » Fri Jun 13, 2008 2:54 pm

Trying to make up for 7 hours of almost wasted spotting on Tuesday by spending a few hours outside Lyneham.....at first it was looking bleak....Not only was the wind randomly changing directions and the runway constantly switching, but I had also fallen into a nasty patch of stinging nettles while climbing onto a bank to get a better view.... :P. To add to the frustration, as I was getting on the bus in Chippenham a lovely sand camouflaged Herk was circling overhead.....unfortunately it had scarpered before I arrived :(

However, after two hours of boredom, in which the only movement was my nemesis, G-VICC, the herks came out to play, with what seemed like half the J fleet leaving in quick succession (many of them didn't come back before I had left). However a couple of Js and a K went into some circuit bashing. Better still, the wind had subsided and was blowing right down the most convenient runway, and the sun was starting to appear :D

Aswell as the RAF's finest there were a couple of special visitors which are for another thread ;)
