Quiz: What is it?

Taken at a recent air display.
Hint: Things aren't always what they seem.

Looks like a piece of plywood painted to look like a Nieuport.
;D
Why didn't you stand behind it to have your picture taken "in the cockpit"?
;) :D

Darn it. That was too easy. >:(  ;)

It is indeed a 7/8th scale 2D prop for a new film entitled "Flyboys" being made at RAF Halton. Note the lack of shadow. It's very well done & fools a lot of people.

Not possible I'm afaid. I'm not allowed on that side of the fence. It's parked on the other side of the active runway. I took this shot on full zoom.

I bet it'll look fine in the background of a film shot, but something about the nature of a digital camera, maybe, gave it away very easily. The semi-gloss surface of it reflects enough light that it looks sort of pale compared to the grass, etc.
Nice cutout, though- looks like a blown-up photo mounted on board. Is it full-sized? Looks it.

Nope. It's 7/8th scale like the airworthy replicas featured in the film.

Thats a pretty good shot for full zoom. most tend to get very soft. the lower depth of field gives it away. I think thats the correct term. ???
