Glad the flight went well, ( I knew it would.. ...).... ...!

Now you can see why I love the little Cessna's....
...instead of those daft shiny cigar tubes with jet engines and parents with their screaming kids... ...!

I can tell from your post that you thoroughly enjoyed the experience, the flight simulator can never quite give you the feeling of being in a REAL aeroplane, experiencing the various g-forces and observing to scenery all around you passing by.....ever so slowly!... ...LOL...!
...and what about all those fluffy clouds...and diving through holes in them... ...!
You will have noticed a tip I got from good-old Hagar....not having to use the rudder pedals when gently banking...(special ailerons on the wings!), just use the yoke...easy-peasy.... ...!
Did you notice the similarity with the gauges and radios on the real plane....exactly the same as the sim...!

If you are familiar with your local county, it's fun using known landmarks to pick your way around, while watching your compass bearings... ...!

There you go then Jimbo, I'm glad I helped to convert you to the joys of General Aviation and meeting a merry band of Private Pilots, with the help of Mr. Cessna and his lovely 152's.... ... ...!

I remember mentioning to the instructor that I was able to gently bank the aircraft and maintain the slip ball in the centre without excessive use of the rudder pedals....
He confirmed it...
"All to do with the design of the ailerons on the small Cessna 150/152's", he said...

I mentioned it to you when I returned, and you seemed familiar with it, and  posted a link to a site explaining the arrangement, which I found very useful... ...!

Probably explains why the Cessna 152 is used as an excellent, safe, easy-to-fly trainer... ...!

P.S. It is interesting to note that on the Cessna 152's in the Simulator it is necessary to use the rudder to keep the slip-ball centered while banking.....but in the REAL Cessna it is not so vital because of the realistic ailerons working in a REAL airflow, and the aircraft can be gently banked with the feet off the pedals...!

Ah, all high-wing aircraft have a certain natural stability. This is due to the low CofG which makes it act a bit like a pendulum. Without getting too technical, differential movement is used to counteract the drag of the down-going aileron. This would make it yaw in the opposite direction to what you intended. It's not a new idea nor restricted to the modern Cessna trainers. Most light aircraft have aileron differential. On the good old Tiger Moth the "down" aileron actually comes back to neutral on full throw.

Some sport R/C models have no rudder at all but are quite capable of being flown smoothly & even simple aerobatics. They're flown with aileron & elevator.

If I remember correctly you asked about aileron differential. I posted a link to a model site showing how it worked. I never give advice on flying. Best to leave that to the experts.
