Close, it's an XC-47, the prototype for an amphibious C-47. Unfortunately, the project never got past the testing stage, but a few of the XC-47's are still around.

Ooo, sorry, close but not correct.  It is in fact an XC-47, the Army wanted to make the C-47 even more versatile by attaching the largest amphibious floats they could find (largest ones ever made), the Edo model 28 floats.  VERY few of the type were built, I dont remember how many.  The plane was very nice, flew well, handled land and calm water well, but performed poorly in rough water tests so the project was cancelled.  Until a few years ago there was only 1 XC-47 in the world, operated by Folsom's Air Service in Alaska, but the owners converted it back into a conventional DC-3.  There are no XC-47s in existence today (at least none that fly, and Im 99% sure that you cant find a C-47 on floats)

Hmm, never knew that they changed it back to a normal DC-3. Shame, that. I always found it really neat that there was still an XC-47 flying.
