They look fantastic Dave, putting these cropped shots in the CYA bin would be a big mistake.
Cropping allows you to cut out unwelcome stuff that detracts from the main point and dynamics of the shot, and this is what artists and photographers do before they start work - they choose what to include.
Talking of artists, how would one feel at an art gallery if all the pics were of the same dimensions. Some of your shots here have a panoramic quality which looks far better cropped than with all the tarmac and sky otherwise in there. At other times the outside detail is stunning and it's better not to crop, of course, and there is nothing wrong with pics taken in the standard format, not suggesting that, I still use standard very often.
Cropping also lets you save to web on a higher quality level because the base shot 'weighs less', so the shot can look nicer.
Rotating a shot and cropping to get unusual angles is also fine if you don't have another option, but it does mean that the edge areas are chopped off, and a lot of the pic can be lost. The plane needs to be smaller to fit in, gets expanded after cropping and resizing and sometimes doesn't look so nice.
I usually crop to 10x15 before resizing because this is typical 'photo format' and to my eyes looks somehow 'more real' as I'm used to taking lots of photos... but your shots are all different sizes, which could look odd, but because of the spacing and presentation looks fine.
Help! No Ivan Denisovich for a while and I've got typing diarrhoea.
I hope you continue posting the odd cropped shot, they really do look nice!
