[quote]It is all because every media outlet is waiting to report the first A380 crash.

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

No what is funny (in that funny peculiar way), it is the same captain too. Captain Richard de Crespigny is rated on both aircraft and was flying this this one too. Maybe someone is telling him it is time to change vocation

I did wonder, but it was in the papers, so it must be true ;D ;D

This was in yesterdays Telegraph as example of modern journalistic excellence:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/onthefrontline/8109934/Injured-RAF-officer-served-for-a-year-thinking-broken-neck-was-pulled-muscle.html

"Senior Officer" is a rank in the RAF apparently? It's a sad day when a broadsheet no longer understands the difference between Officers and NCOs. Why would a perfectly sensible Sgt want to be tarred with the same brush as a Sqn Ldr! ;D

Did you ever see the episode of MASH where Hawkeye wanted to take Radar into the officers mess. He gave Radar his captains bars and made him a Captain Corporal, a new rank being trialed

Pet peeve of mine, when people spell Qantas with a 'u'. Title changed. ;D

As you can imagine the media are having a field day over here with these latest mishaps. I think because Qantas is Australia's national airline they are monitored very closely and any incident will make for a media frenzy. Qantas has had an extremely bad run of luck lately, the last 4 years have seen its fair share of minor incidents. These haven't helped the airlines image when media jump all over it, passengers will be avoiding Qantas for fear of an engine falling off. Just ignore the fact that Qantas is one of the worlds safest airlines, not a single crash in its 90 year history. Pretty damn good considering its the second oldest airline still in continous operation. ::)

Oh yeah, right.
Sorry about that.

Not entirely true. They have had plenty of mishaps. Admittedly, the last passenger deaths where in the 1950's, but Qantas are well known in the aviation world for manipulating incidents to maintain the accident free image. This is done by splashing the cash. Even if an aircraft is written off by the insurance company as in the 747-400 that came to rest on a golf course after sliding off a runway at Bangkok's airport (The Australian Transport Safety Bureau criticised numerous inadequacies in Qantas' operational and training processes), Qantas had it rebuilt to maintain a no hull loss record. The accident recording at Qantas is a bit like a Ryanair ticket, you have the basic ticket price, but a lot of stuff tucked away just out of sight.
