Good grief, Reuters was originally reporting that "A Singapore-bound Qantas jet crashes after explosion inflight." Media sensationalism at its best. ::)

I was going to pass comment on this story, but I really cant be bothered. Sensationalist ignorance. Sometimes it can be a real drag working in an industry that the media does its best to shoot down at every turn, but after all good news never sells. I have been working on aircraft for the last 24 years. I have seen it, done it and done it all again, but my mother in law is still the most knowledgeable person on the planet when it comes to aircraft and aircraft safety

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

A380 is and always will be my favorite commercial plane out there. Good to know Qantas grounded all A380's and good on the captain with a calm message  8-)

The new just said it was most likely faulty material that cause the incident.  Just like UAL232... ::) ;D

Wouldn't it be hilarious if this was the replacement jet? ;D

"Second Qantas jet returns to Singapore after engine trouble"

This probably wouldn't be in the news if it weren't for the earlier A380 engine failure, but I thought it was funny. :D

It is all because every media outlet is waiting to report the first A380 crash.  There was so much speculation about what it would be like to have an aircraft with 600 people on board have an accident, long before it ever got off the drawing board.

Pet peeve of mine, when people spell Qantas with a 'u'. Title changed. ;D

As you can imagine the media are having a field day over here with these latest mishaps. I think because Qantas is Australia's national airline they are monitored very closely and any incident will make for a media frenzy. Qantas has had an extremely bad run of luck lately, the last 4 years have seen its fair share of minor incidents. These haven't helped the airlines image when media jump all over it, passengers will be avoiding Qantas for fear of an engine falling off. Just ignore the fact that Qantas is one of the worlds safest airlines, not a single crash in its 90 year history. Pretty damn good considering its the second oldest airline still in continous operation. ::)
