Candidate injured in plane crash on election day

Postby Al_Fallujah » Thu May 06, 2010 7:55 am

Candidate and former UKIP leader was injured in a plane crash an hour after polls opened.

Appears they were towing a banner. There is some speculation that it snagged the aircraft in flight, but at this point it everything is speculation.

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

...I think its amazing that it didn't catch fire, with tanks probably full of fuel, following take-off!

Extremely lucky!

Its seems to be very rare for an aircraft to not catch fire following a crash of that sort....

I believe that he was returning Fozzer, so the tanks would have been, well not full. An empty tank is in general more dangerous than a full one. Fumes explode, liquid burns, though either way it does not generally have a good outcome :-[

I thought it said that it had just taken off, and was forced to return.
It looks like it nosed over, instead of breaking up totally, so maybe the tanks did not rupture.

Update on the pol:

They expected trouble at the landing... Maybe the banner caught the landing gear? I have not heard anything.
