I have every sympathy with you Sean, believe me. I'm sure you will achieve your dream some day if you continue to feel as strongly about it as you do now. When I was younger my only dream was to get a PPL & perhaps own a little aeroplane or glider. The ironic thing is that now I have the time & could afford to do it I've lost the enthusiasm. I shall never lose my fascination with aviation but doing it myself is no longer important to me.

Not wishing to appear flippant but I've always wondered how Americans distinguish between the Gas that Fozzer's cooker runs on & the Gas (gasoline) used in cars & aircraft.

...leading to a fascinating read, as always!...>>>>

It's largely a matter of context. It can lead to some confusion when conversation gets technical ("gas turbine", "inert gas", etc) but geberally it works out.
Another thing you hear a lot is "natural gas" to refer to heating and cooking gas, and of course "propane"... nobody says "maw, don't forget to pick up another bottle of gas at the gas station", they'd say "bottle of propane".

We have:
"Gas" the stuff that comes out of the Gas Platforms in the Sea and goes into my Cooker, and heats my Living Room.
"Petrol" the stuff we put into the tanks in our Motor Cars/Motorcycles.
"Diesel" the stuff that goes onto our smoky 'Buses and Lorries (Trucks).
"Paraffin" the stuff that (used to) goes in our "oil lamps", in the Olden Days.

..and, of course, "Oil"; the stuff that makes the wheels go round smoothly...;)...!

.....and "Tyres"...the rubber doughnut thingies that that fit round our Wheels.... ;D...!

Paul... ;D...!

Hi THere, Thanks for your help in selling me 2205N.  Your input was valuable along with the pictures you posted.  Didn't mean to steal her from you but it was a good deal and so far so good.  Better luck next time.  Happy 140 owner...

Loan dolphins, or are they whales? I cant remember their names. Nice bunch of chaps... happy enough to lend money in a quick and private way.

I hear they have stricter policies on repaying though.
