You can't "feel" a sim aircraft in the way you can feel a regular aircraft. While I can land planes easy with no probs without a panel in reality just because it's easy to estimate speed and feel things like descent rate, I find it best to use the 2D panel to land in the sim if you can. I prefer to do it without changing the height of the view as it screws up after landing. As has been said the 3D panel is just too damn jerky to get that real experience of landing, though I must admit I do like taking screenshots of VCs and making 2D cockpits out of them, creates an incredible experience! But yep it's 2D all the way for me.
