And then UPC (my local cable company) put all of Discovery into Hungarian and I strongly suspect the person doing the translation hasn't got a brilliant command of English, regularly they mix up hundreds and thousands, so an experienced fighter pilot has 300 hours of stick time or my favourite was when a xeno-biologist working for NASA became an ex-biologist

On thing about Bob The Builder when "translated" for the American market, it takes longer to say "Bob" than it does "The Builder".......

"Boooooooooooooooooooob, The Builder"  ;D

Maybe the producers think that American children wouldn't be able to understand a British accent. I've never had trouble with it, but I know a few people who do. Once in high school I quoted Monty Python in my best Brit accent, and some girl goes "I don't speak *frinch!"

*obviously not, she couldn't even pronounce it. Of course, this is the same person who argued with the history teacher about whether or not there were two world wars.
