Well, I can tell you one thing. Never, ever give a dog to Montagnard villagers in Vietnam. They will inevitably invite you to dinner....
A dumbass Brigadier General learned that the hard way. He was rather baffled why none on my squad were eating. Then it dawned on him when he asked, "Ummm, where's that dog"? My buddy responded, "Right in front of you Sir"! The star barfed...lmao
