Un health foods..

Postby Steve M » Thu Aug 19, 2010 6:39 pm

Battered deep fried butter,
Chocolate coated bacon,
Cheese burger in a bag, ..?
Poutine,
And many more..
My heart just stops beating when I read that that there are people out there inventing recipes worse than the old carnival foods. (Like a Cotton candy dessert after having a hotdog, washed down with a giant Slushi.)

Meh, I'm not really into those kind of recipes, if I had to induce a heart attack I'd probably go for this value meal. ;D :o :-X

P.S.
Where is the "Ugh" smiley? ;D

I had a breakfast at one of the M4 Roadservices this summer... I swear the toast must have been dipped into molten butter and then toasted! It seeped out when you squeezed the damn thing....

Want unhealthy food? Stop at any large petrol station here in Holland and buy a 'gehaktstaaf' (meatball shaped as a stick). Eat two and you have enough gas to last a week...

Edit: I know poutine has been around for a while, but a friend told me... shhh.. you can get maple syrup poured all over it and have it sprinkled with sour kraut.

Poutine:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poutine

Two things stand out:

"It is sold by . . . 'greasy spoon' type diners" and
"poutine is a very common dish sold and eaten in high school cafeterias in various parts of Canada."

I was under the impression that Canadians ate better than that.

Judging from the picture, it looks rather good, but I would avoid the cheese curds.

Pouring maple syrup over it and sprinkled with sour kraut? Now that's nasty! To each their own I guess.

I tried it once, one bite, spit it out.  :-X It has to be eaten very hot, once it cools down, it becomes a stinking lump of cold grease.   :P

Although I've had an inclination towards 'crunchy' fried foods, soggy or excessively greasy is not at all good. I've usually par-broiled meats, which I should avoid, anyway, so that the fats/grease could be more easily drained off (usually some left behind, though).
My native ancestors poured maple syrup on clean snowballs... with saur kraut and a greasy hodgepodge? No thank you.

That is still done here, H. Warm maple sap poured onto cold snow in thin ribbons. Natural candy..  :)
