NEW JOB! For real this time!

Postby TacitBlue » Thu Apr 01, 2010 5:07 pm

I know, I know, I just posted that stupid April fools thread but it's real this time.

I went to see my old flight instructor today just to visit. He is also a mechanic and runs a small shop. I told him that I had had no luck in my job hunt and then it dawned on me, I could work for him which I would do for free just for the experience. So I offered to come in a couple of days a week, work for free and build my experience. He said "sure, we can do that" and handed me a wrench. Then I spent 6 hours taking cowls, access panels and various other things off of a Porterfield aircraft so that it could have it's annual done. I'm tired and happy. :)

Joe (my new boss) also said that we could work it out so that it isn't totally free, I'll probably get payed in flight instruction time which is more than enough for me.

Thanks guys, it's my dream job too and I know I will enjoy it. It just feels good to finally be doing what I set out to do. It also makes it easier to go to my other job, as much as I hate it, at least it pays in the form of that old necessary evil- Money. But at least I know that when I'm done stocking soda shelves this weekend I will be back in the hangar on Monday doing some real work. 8-)

P.S. Mods, I just realized that this should probably have been in the Pilot's Lounge. I don't mind if you need to move it. ;)

You've got an income and still get to do what you prefer. That's not a bad situation at all.
