Fly the plane! This is every flight sim enthusiast's dream to be on a plane where both pilots are incapacitated and no one else can fly but you. Of course you don't want it to happen like that, but who wouldn't jump at the chance?

Well I'm not going to wish for the suffering of others, but if it happened, I would try my best.

That plane is going to come out of the skies either way, the least someone could do is aim it and hope for the best. Even if the co-pilot did come around, they may be too injured to fly properly. I don't know if anything this severe has ever occured, but passengers have been known to fly smaller aircraft down with help from the controller.


I'm not going to say I'd make the cleanest of landings, but it is better than nothing. In that situation we can only do the best that we can do. I'm not going to be as big headed as to say I could do it well, but I have enough MSFS hours to have a good idea of what to do. The rest is seat of your pants.

I would at do it, but the first thing I would do is let ATC know what is going on so that they can get someone to talk me through it. I don't know my way around an airliner, all of my simulated and real flying is done is small planes.

I actually would feel fairly confident in my ability to it.  I have gotten some sim time (in the full motion airline trainers) in both ATR-42 and MD-11 sims.  I found it pretty easy to manage, and made a beautiful approach and landing in the MD.

Even after 15 years+ of daily Flight Simming, I would only feel reasonably happy making a real-life, successful landing in a Cessna 150/152.
Landing a Commercial Heavy Jet Aircraft would require all the assistance of Air Traffic Control and their Radar for technical and navigational guidance....they would be in control....without it, I doubt I would stand much of a chance.

..at the very least, I would expect a Nose Gear collapse on landing!

Having transferred my sim time to the cockpit of a 737-800 (perks of the job 8-)) I can tell you that you could do it, however, the HUGE difference is.........................there is no pucker factor when you are 10 feet in the air sat in a glorified desktop computer.
Also, as real as if gets, a virtual cockpit does not translate into an exact copy of a real aircraft. I spanner on both 737NG and A320 and the cockpit is my office as much as it's the pilots, except for the obvious difference. You would be quite quickly overcome by the situation. You may well get it down, but the skid marks would not just be on the runway. Lastly, just prey your dream day out is in a 737 and not an Air Bus. It may have a joystick just like your Saitek X???, but you would be so clueless up front I would advise going to the galley and taking all the miniatures
