I am thinking that this whole flap is a case of mass hysteria fueled by people who think that they can and should and must have the RIGHT to be protected from every possible bad thing that could ever happen to them.
Yes, this has the potential to become a mess. Every day there are TONS of things that could become a real mess in the world.
Did you know that the Bubonic Plague still is around? The American southwest is a hotbed. Every year, a few people contract it. A few die. THAT has the potential to be a real mess. But you don't hear much about it. That's because we now have some teratments that tend to work. And only a few poeple die each year out of a huge population.
Look at the worldwide NORMAL deaths from "run-of-the-mill" influenza that happen EVERY SINGLE YEAR. It is HUGE. Tens of thousands. But THAT does not cause this "Oh my god the sky is falling" response. Because it is consdered a "normal occurance".
Apparently the drug Tamiflu is effective on this one. In 4-6 months the'll hav a vaccine for it. So far, very few people have dies out of an enormous world population.
Yes, it is terrible if YOU are the one to get sick and die. But if that possiblity bothers you too much, seal yourself in a plastic baggie and go crawl in a cave and hide.
To me, this appears to be a massive overreaction, and a HUGE portion of it is caused, not by the "Swine Flu", but by the modern day MEDIA HYPE!!!!! Bad news is good news.
