Some day... we should have one that outdoes the 50mph maximum -- and with a charging/power system to eliminate all but emergency plug-in charging.Some day when I have a normal job and don't have to drive 60+ miles to and from school every day I would like to get one that can do at least 40mph so I can keep up with traffic.

Think about the chemicals that go into a battery and where your electric comes from ie coal, nuclear, waste to energy...... If you increase the demand on electric in turn you are not really helping the environment. Im all for fuel cells or methanol, ethanol isnt really that efficient so Im counting that out.

If I had the finances, I can nigh guarantee the running power would not be battery. The battery power only needs to be enough to generate the necessary motion to engage the main power system. Currently, that may mean a lot of weight because of what's available in motor systems (but, at least, doesn't have to be matched by battery weight); even that will be eventually reduced with more efficient materials and systems....and five, 12 Volt, bloody great car batteries, wired in series (60 Volts), weighing half a bleedin' TonSome day... we should have one that outdoes the 50mph maximum -- and with a charging/power system to eliminate all but emergency plug-in charging.

....agree...same with lots of things we have been stuck with for donkeys years..........
...we have been throwing drinking water(now very expensive ) down the flushing lavatory since it's conception don't know how long since.......we'd have had a much better system by now if Mr Crapper or whoever it was hadn't had his "eureka moment"....but for the foreseeable future we remain bogged down (
