NDSP! Master Spammer! Beware!!

Postby TSC. » Tue Jul 10, 2007 3:44 am

He's not really is he.

After seeing NDSP get blamed continuously for 'spamming' & 'posting to much', I just thought that it was time to remind people that it's not mandatory to read every single post thats been put up.

If you think anybody's posts are spam, then simply don't read them, nobody's forcing you to click on them. If they're in a thread your reading, just scroll through them.

For anybody who thinks NDSP posts to much, then maybe you should start a crusade against these guys aswell:

Hagar = 13.65

Bjorn = 10.30

Rottydaddy = 9.52

Craig = 9.12

All four I deem to be some of SimV's finest members, all four have a higher 'posts per day' total than NDSP - so why not bash them everytime they post? Scared of the big guys huh?

2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

As I have said in another post, it's not how many posts you make that is the problem, if those posts are helpful and meaningful no-one has a problem, I think a lot of people find it easier to simply mention the post count than explain this.

If you think anybody's posts are spam, then simply don't read them, nobody's forcing you to click on them. If they're in a thread your reading, just scroll through them.

This doesn't really hold water in a forum. Surely we could just turn around and say 'just scroll past the porn spammers, no-one is forcing you to read them'  ::)

To put that in perspective, NDSP's post percentage is @ 8.95 Posts per each of his (present) 209 days here. Sure, that outdoes my 4.04 Posts per day, versus TSC's 4.08; another member involved in the related threads has 33.60 Posts per each of his 92 days since joining -- so what?

Peace people, it's only the internet.

I think we need a Kudos system (also known as karma system, respect system, etc). Each user can only give one "kudos" an hour. So if you post a kickbutt screenshot or something, or are generally just being a good dude on the forums, people give you kudos. It means a lot more than the postcount; its showing what people think of you, not how many times people see your name.

As far as I know such a mod exists for YaBB, I'll go hunt it out if anybody's interested.

But that is what we do, and it works, the difference being MODs remove them.

If you are into touchy feely ::) It still will not answer the "problem" of span or what people "think" is spam.
