Cruel?  Not so sure about that.  People work under those conditions all the time.  Just think about all the people who landscape or farm in Arizona.  We treat our soldiers like that (and worse) without much thought to it being cruel.  Unusual?  I think it's more like "rare".

I don't think prisoners have protection from "uncomfortable and uncommon" punishment.

You have a point our troops are working in a hotter climate, with more cloths on carrying more equipment working longer hours. The only similarity, both are living in tents in the desert. I would think that most troops would swap.

I can't speak for everyone, but I for one am NOT jealous of the money, to be fair, I think the only one here who's jealous of the money is you, as you seem to use wealth as your yardstick for almost anything.

I couldn't care less about how much the Hiltons have got - they've got what they've got, I've got what I've got. I think you'll find what upsets most people is the fact the the Hiltons think they should be treated differently in the eyes of the law to everybody else, simply because they have a lot of money.

Quite frankly if I had the choice between vast wealth but having no brain, or being average, but able to make my own decisions - I'd take the latter.

Paris broke the law, nobody here (except Alrot maybe ) has mentioned wanting to see her suffer, they just want to see justice metered out equally to all walks of life, end of story.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio offered to house her in his famous Maricopa County Jail.

Paris Hilton would have been in pink underwear and jail stripes if Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio had his way.  On Monday America's toughest sheriff made headlines when he offered to house Paris Hilton in the heat of the Arizona desert and she would be doing manual labor on chain gangs if she were to volunteer for such duty.  Right now 'tent city' houses about 300 female inmates.  Temperatures soar over 110 degrees in Central Arizona in the summer ...

But alas it looks as if Paris Hilton will get a pass.  According to local officials from Phoenix, Sheriff Joe has been turned down.

It's sad that these people get so much attention, when all they do is absolutely nothing but cause problems for society most of the time.  They should have doubled her sentence for good behavior, and totally confused her.  Poor girl, she's going to need a major party after this horrible, horrible injustice.

Anyway, I would like to make it clear that I'm not having a pop at you, just a debate on the Paris Hilton thing, you believe one thing, I believe another - thats all it is.
