Every overweight person I've personally known has had a tendency to eat for solace rather than nutrition (whether they realize they're depressed or not), and a tendency to not get enough exercise.
Exactly. Most of the obese people I know have long family troubles, are depressed, etc.. To quote Fat Bastard from Austin Powers "I eat because I'm unhappy, and I'm unhappy because I eat". That's basically it.
Although I really don't know why my dad is overweight. The thing that worries me is that he started gaining weight and going bald right after I was born. I feel kind of bad about it.

The good thing though is that over the last two months or so, he's been on a diet, wherein he has lost I think a grand total of 30 pounds. He's still got a ways to go but it's working. Last weekend he cheated big time but didn't gain a pound. I guess his motabilism is higher now. Plus he works out every morning.
Nuts, I had another thought but I can't remember it now. Ah well. That's what the edit button is for.
Aha, got it. The added risk with being obese is that of heart disease and diabetes. If I may use my dad as an example again, he had high cholesteral for many many years. A lot of people that know him always thought that at a moments notice he would have a heart attack. Again fortunetly he's lowered it since by losing weight and taking medicine for it. So this just goes to prove...
