That tri-motor is an example of a plane that's so ugly it looks good, IMHO...

Heres an ugly plane I saw at Oshkosh last year:

It's a pervical EP9. Not the ugliest thing in the sky, but sure isn't the prettiest either.

I'd say it was distinguished looking rather than ugly. Rather practical too...

As for the Phalcon, it is a bit harsh to call it ugly. The aeroplane didn't ask to have the ugly growth installed...
