Not a great loss to humanity I feel, especially for any people living in any part of the former Yugoslavia....

What bugs me about this, is that another commiter of crimes against humanity "escapes" before the's sentenced! I'd rather have seen him beeing convicted first, just as a way of confronting him he was wrong, allthough he might think otherwise...

Oh well... Now bring in Karadzic and Mladic!

RIP. ::)

Can't be tried?  What about being dead?  Isn't that what he deserved in the first place?  I find it unlikely he just passed away.  I think he accidently fell of a balcony, or he accidently strangled himself, or he accidently got hung or he accidently drank the Kool Aid.

You know...  an accident! ::)

EDIT: Those pesky companies and their spelling...  Cool Aid!

I don't see what the big deal is.  The only problem I see is that the UN sure took their time with the trials, since he was arrested way back in 2001.

But, in the end, nothing would have changed.  Had the trials been finished-he would have been found guilty and sentenced to life in prision-so he would have died in jail just like he did.  I suppose that this way, since the UN never completed the trial, they didn't have to use all those resources on him.

But then again, I would have liked to see him found guilty and sentenced for his crimes-even though nothing would have changed.

Although in practise a waste of money, the trial could in theory continue posthumously.

I'm sorry to say that this type of trial is pretty meaningless. Whatever crimes they might be guilty of, these people will never admit to their guilt or even accept the authoriity of the court to try them.  It might sound cynical but if this man was responsible for half of what he stood accused of his death solves a lot of trouble & expense.
