They're just stupid ways of gaining a quick buck.


If they happen to win the case, by the time their legal representatives (who usually persuaded them to sue in the first place) have grabbed their share there won't be much left. I doubt that many of these people get much out of it at all.

For some reason I find that very amusing: a judge sitting listening to how a "bin man" (that'd be a "garbage man", right?) was permanently harmed by the shock of being startled by a dead badger. In New York, a sanitation worker would likely smile and take it home to have a hat made out of it. New York's trash-haulers suffer a higher on-the-job attrition rate than the NYPD, and that includes being shot at. They've seen it all.
