So this ranks up there with curing cancer or ending war?  Well, perhaps it'll solve world hunger...  ;)

I wonder if those scientists get the same feeling of working for the greater good that other scientitsts do...

Well, come on now!  More money is spent researching Viagra and the like (rather than Cancer or AIDS).

This rings false. I rarely go with the microwave popcorn, and I never get any unpopped kernels, because I have a foolproof system.
I cook the cheap stuff, and I do it the old fashioned way- on the stove.
Put a sheen of oil in the pot, turn on the heat, and drop one kernel in. when you hear that sucker pop, put the rest in. Move it around as it pops, and if you've put too much in, just pour some of the popped corn out and keep going. When you don't hear any more popping, it's done. Simple.
Every now and then I burn a few, but I never get any unpopped kernels.

We used to have a big popcorn pot with a crank on the side. You put it on the stove, and turn the crank to keep the corn moving. It worked great, and didnt render very many unpopped kernals. Maybe the microwave stuff does that because of the way its packaged or something.

Ah heck!  Maybe I'm speaking for myself, but I love this!  I don't even eat popcorn, but I love it whenever something so trivial is broken down into technical terms! ;D

Who's up for an explanation on the dynamics on how a pocket knife opens?  Eh?  Eh? :D ;)
