I think she means "aura", and there's something to that idea, because the human body does have an electromagnetic field (do an image search sometime under "Kirlian photograph" to see what I mean), and I suppose it can be disturbed or manipulated. And the body clearly reacts to, and influences, your emotional state- nothing mumbo-jumbo about that. However, I lean towards scientists' interpretations of such phenomena, as opposed to those who like neat tidy cosmic simplistic explanations ("and would you like to buy a crystal, or a picture-book of crop circles?"), or those who claim to be able to "see" auras without anything other than their basic 5 senses available (especially if they want money in exchange for this 'service'!!)
Somebody has probably done a serious scientific study on the effects of long-term exposure to devices like PCs... and remember, if you're sitting in front of a CRT, it's a lot like a TV set- plenty of radiation streaming out of there. But then again, the sun and other sources out there clobber us with radiation all the time, too. Having evolved in an environment with a certain average level of radiation, we're fine with it- in fact, we probably wouldn't be here without it. So I dunno. Besides, unless you live in an extremely remote area, you've got all kinds of man-made waves passing through you constantly (radio, etc.) even if your house has no electronic devices in it. I seriously doubt your PC contributes very much, but that's not my field of expertise.
As for it having a bad influence on your soul, spirit, whatever... as difficult to prove as it would be to disprove. You're better off believing in things that can be proven.
If it makes your mother happy to believe that "natural" stuff can't hurt you and "unnatural" (electronic) stuff is bad, leave her to it. But make your own decisions.
Y'know, now that I think about it, maybe she's just trying to get you to stop playing music so late...
:D
