Girl, 15, dies in party stabbing
Police are bidding to track down all the guests at a birthday party which ended with the fatal stabbing of a 15-year-old girl.
Detectives arrested a 17-year-old girl near the scene in connection with the incident. She was taken to an east London police station, where she remained in custody.
Scotland Yard said officers went to a house in Saxon Road, Ilford, at 12.30am on Sunday after a disturbance during a 16th birthday party.
Police went to the house after they were flagged down by people in a nearby street asking for help.
The victim, who had suffered stab wounds, was taken by ambulance to Kings College Hospital but pronounced dead at 1.30am.
The girl, who was black, has not yet been named.
A post-mortem examination at East Ham Mortuary confirmed that the cause of the girl's death was a stab wound.
One man who lives in the quiet street said he was shocked to learn the girl had died. "I didn't realise she had died - I am shocked. This is tragic."
A friend of the dead girl was in tears when he arrived with his mother hoping to deliver flowers.
Joy Corey, 38, of Goodmayes, Essex, said her son Gavin, 15, was friends with the girl, who used to go to watch him play football. She said: "This is terrible, it's a hard loss for everyone to take, we are devastated."
OK. Sounds like a nice bunch to invite to a party :-/
