It's funny, but I don't think it's the funniest joke ever.

LOL ;D Now I can see the funny side of that. :D

Not sure it's the funniest thing I've ever seen or heard though. Some of Fozzer's one-liners have me in stitches. I know, don't tell me. I always had a warped sense of humour. ;) Blame dear old Spike & the gang for that. 8)

Tee-Hee...!
...Loved it...!

I always tend to put a sound track to jokes like that, and I can hear the sound of the shot ringing out, and imagine the startled look on the operators face.... ;D....!
LOL...!

It's a good one, but just by prefacing it as "the world's funniest joke, as proven by scientific analysis" drains about 20% off the yuck factor right off the bat, as far as I'm concerned.
There's an intangible element to telling a joke successfully...

Personally the funniest thing i've ever heard is from the Goon show. It basically went like this:

Distant bang, whistle of an comming shell then the sound of a chicking clucking...
"Good god! They're firing hens at us!"
"A fowl trick!"
"We're being shelled!"
"Stop cracking yolks!"

Gets me everytime. ;D

I'd have to agree with RD as a the science takes a lot out of the funny factor.

Interesting study though!

IM always up for the funny side of life of course, but that joke wasnt even funny, i have heard funnier from my mother, now thyat is saying something. Maybe it was because i was prepared for something really funny and was sadly dissapointed.

I agree with you that scienec does take out the funny side to it!

I think the scientific approach takes the fun out of most things. I read somewhere that scientific experts are the easiest to fool. From personal experience I never doubted that. ::)

PS. A popular Irish comedian's catch-phrase was "It's the way Oi tell'um". Even this made me laugh whenever he came out with it. He could tell the most corny joke & guarantee to get a laugh out of it. Comedy is a personal thing & much depends on how a joke is presented. I was never too good at teling jokes myself. Take Woody's example from the Goon Show. It might not look that amusing on paper but if you heard them do it on the radio I almost guarantee that you would be literally rolling on the floor laughing, depending on your sense of humour of course. The Goons were my main influence in my young days which explains my odd sense of humour. ;D 8)
