I'll be honest with you, i want to see a continuation of the Next Gen. But with the USS Titan, Riker got the command he wanted and now no-one knows what type of ship the Titan is. Plus Nemesis left open alot of holes that need to be closed. Federation Romulan peace on the horizon, how will the Klingons react as we all know they hate Romulans, just how much effect will the new Sovereign class refitted Enterprise have on the balance of power, they could have that make appearances every now and again. What about the Borg, they are bound to be a little ticked off with Janeway destroying their network of transwarp conduits(which is a load of crap as the borg actually originally travelled transwarp without being in conduits.) So many things they could do with the Star trek series. Yet they mess around and ruin great ideas.

Federation history does include ships named Enterprise before NCC-1701 and Christopher Pike (or George Samule Kirk, if you read the various pieces of fiction).

It was accepted in canon that there was at least one other ship...but it was butt ugly and the idea never explored in the shows or fiction. :)

ST: TMP showed a USS Enterprise (XCV-330) in a wall display...but we've never seen that ship anywhere else.

There is one chance for a new series based on an Enterprise not previously seen...NCC-1701C under Capt. Rachel Garrett. I'd love to see the last episode, titled "Tomorrow's Enterprise".

Fans of TNG will know just what I mean. :)

When it comes to the history of the Enterprise. It all started with Pike and NCC1701.

I always thought the first captain of NCC-1701 was Robert April.

Well you are prob right. I should reword it. As far as i know, it startd with Pike, I took little interest in the original series. And essentially your link silver doesnt even mention NX-01 between that weird looking enterprise and the constitution class.

Sadly, the current Enterprise will be scrapped in 6 or 7 years. But she is showing her age. However she will be replaced with a newer class of carrier and i believe will continue to bare the name Enterprise.
Thats a cool piece of history on the Navys Big E Gary cheers.

We'll know how much of an impact Star Trek has had if the new carrier Enterprise is commisioned as CVN-65-B. :)

Both Links show NX-01 Craig, it's entry #27 in the comprehensive list of Enterprises and the other link shows a nice pic. Neither has a lot to say about the NX class though...probably because so far the NX garnered all that much fan support. :)

I'm on about the picture from the motion picture in the link. they can re-write history in words all they want. But there is no NX01 between the Carrier shuttle and that weird one.

Well, there could have been a government commisioned Enterprise NX-01 co-existing in the time line with the liner Enterprise.

But heres the thing. Gene, had no plans for Star Trek beyond "the next generation" He created the original series, and then had a part in creating the Next generation series. That was all he planned for. Everything else Voyager, DS9 the newer movies and Enterprise are all down to Paramount.

But, someone has to hold the legacy. And, if Gene didn't leave specific instructions then Rick Berman and Paramount would be the sole authority on future history.  Gene didn't mention NX-01 but he didn't deny it either.  Rick choose to flesh out that vague period between our time and the original series.  I remind you that Gene left that period rather vague.  The way Rick did it in no-way contradicts or changes what Gene had already given us. Therefor, there is room in the timeline for Enterprise NX-01 and Captain Archer and crew.  I think it was a very good idea actually.  However, due to my schedule and the fact that my wife detests Star Trek there are a lot of episodes I haven't seen so I don't know what went wrong.  What I saw, I enjoyed. It brought back that spirit of discovery and daring do that existed in the original series but had been lost in the more advanced and eveloped period of Next Generation.

As a point. Berman was only an executive producer on Star Trek the next generation, and only produced a couple of episodes of DS9 and Voyager. He is credited as the creator and co-writer of Enterprise and Nemesis. While i liked Nemesis i still thought it was riddled with to many holes and mess ups and so on ::) But look how long those other series lasted compaired to Enterprise. The only good news for the new movie is Braga wont be there as a yes man. I still have to ask why a prequel. Give it a rest, and that goes for all movies. It sort of worked for Star Wars as there were fans interested in the first one maybe two prequels. Berman had his chance to appease fans of star trek who wanted a prequel in Enterprise, and while yes despite my dislike of it as a whole, i do like some parts, it did get better as it went on but everytime it was going right, it just went wrong. You could tell when ex star trek cast members had a hand in directing, especially Johnathan Frakes and Levar Burton, those episodes were very well played out. I do really think if they arnt going to answer the questions Nemesis left open, then its time to let Star Trek retire. Not for nothing, it will prob go down as the most sucessful sci-fi show of all time.

Yes, indeed they should have very well avoided any story lines that touched on stories already covered unless they stuck to the letter of what they were touching with absolutley NO interpretation or modification that would conflict with what we know.
