this sounds retarted. When  I took a photoshop class in high school, all we did was make pictures of political figures. Osama, Hitler, Bush, the ugly principal that looked like a rat (bitch) I made the monica and bill pict though ;D we had color laser printers in that class, and someone printed out some $20 bills and passed them in the lunch room (idiot!):o ;D

Back to class tommarow....sounds like im stuck running the one printing press...I dont mind doing it but if your not carefull then you get a lot of ink on your hands and cloths that doesnt come off easy :P        anyone else could do it but im the one who usualy does when needed and know how it runs :-/

For the record, most athiests (like myself) don't give a flying **** about having to say "god" in the pledge of alliegance, etc. It's only the evangelical ones you have to look out for.

Bottom line: is it unconstitutional? Yes, actually.

I'd guess the teacher is under orders from above (the schoolboard, not God ;)  )  to supress religious iconography in class.  It makes sense, given the tendency nowadays for everybody to take offense with everything and/or try to push their own ideology on others. Safest compromise is: no icons, period. However,if  that disc is really YOUR property, he did not have the right to delete that file. I say: keep complaining about it. Make a stink. Get a lawyer. If you really want to make trouble, get some Christian group all riled up about it. Might get you more trouble than you want, so maybe that'd work best as a threat  ;).
Seriously, though, even if it was, say, a pornographic image, if that disc is not school propery, they might have the right to seize it temporarily, but not destroy it. Sometimes I think school boards have all gone completely nuts...

Oh, where to begin with this one.....I'm not going to go over the original purpose of the thread, because I agree with the author...it's ridiculous...

yep, thats what i dont like about US.  They say "Freedom of religion" but they make the kids say the prayer in schools.  Those who live in US prolly know it by heart.  I pledge alligeance............... UNDER GOD.........

and whats the deal with the money

IN GOD WE TRUST

If i dont believe in God, is the money worthless to me??

They make the kids say the prayers in schools?  Where exactly are you going to school?  No one is FORCING you to do anything.  If you don't want to say it, don't say it.  Saying "under God" in school isn't any more of a prayer than saying "Oh my God" is.  Get over it.

The deal with money is simple.  Our nation was founded with a firm belief in The Almighty.  If you don't like it, our borders are wide open.  I highly encourage you to orient yourself toward the border, then walk until it's behind you.

No RIchie, the pledge is still there, in NY atleast

If you think that the Pledge of Allegiance could possibly vary from state to state, then perhaps you should stop worrying about stupid crap like this and pay more attention in class.

Bottom line: is it unconstitutional? Yes, actually.
Do we care? NO!

How is having "Under God" or "In God We Trust" involved in government affairs even remotely unconstitutional?  Nowhere in the U.S. Constitution are the words "Separation of Church and State" written.

If you don't want to believe in God, that's your deal.  I'll pray for you.  But don't go around trying to take God out of the lives of the rest of us.  If you don't like beef, don't eat beef.  But dammit, I want a hamburger once in a while.

Sorry, but this topic pisses me off more than you can possibly understand.
;)
Great edit, Bob.

Umm... Hyperion... I just said that I'm not an evangelical athiest and I don't give a flying **** about having to say "the g word". So, my question to you-

How the hell am I trying to take god out of peoples lives? I love religion (for all intensive purposes of this post, anyway). Please read my post again.

And thanks for praying for me, I've got a Catholic kid at school doing it too, and it's very thoughtful. (seriously I appreciate it, b/c if I'm wrong, well it's straight to hell :-[)

And just because seperation of church and state isn't in the constitution friend (which, btw, I'm taking your word on-if it is, in fact, in one of the ammendments I'll be back), doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Hence, we're not taught creationism in school, etc. ;)

We're not taught creationism in school because a select group of activists (who are in the minority in this country, btw) have falsely convinced certain members of society that we have a Constitutional right to be protected from any mention of religion.

I wasn't attacking you, specifically.  I used your quote to represent the thoughts of many these days...sorry if I didn't make that clear enough. ;)

Just out of curiosity, this isn't hostile, just wanting your opinion-do you think we should be taught creationism? And if you do, should all the biology (darwinism and stuff) also be blocked out, or should we be taught both?

And I'm perfectly aware those activists are a minority now, Bush is still in offi-oh crap, I'm not allowed to say that here...

lol no, this isn't hostile at all.  I believe that they should both be taught in school.  After all, the purpose of education is to teach you HOW to think, not to teach you WHAT to think.

No educator, regardless of their personal beliefs, should be allowed to promote his or her own agenda.

Hmm, good point ;)

We don't have time for both though, so the one that is generally more accepted is the one being taught. And honestly, what kind of tests would be given in the creationism calss?

3. God created _________ on the third day.

I mean common ;D

The science courses we learn in school cover everyone, no matter what your beliefs. Scientific fact cannot be refuted by religion, but the opposite isn't true. Should we be teaching a Muslim kid creationism? No, of course not. Science covers everyone, no matter what religion.

The one good thing that could come out of a creationism class is torturing the teacher. I LOVE getting into arguments with devout believers, because you never get anywhere with them but it sure does improve your arguing skills ;)

But why does there need to be an argument at all?  Both sides are equally entitled to their beliefs, no?

Anyway, I'd love to be able to debate this with you further, but A) It'll get locked for sure, and B) I'm going to a hockey game so I don't have time.  lol
