cup final weekend

Postby Craig. » Fri May 21, 2004 7:45 am

The worst 2 days to be in Bristol.
The FA cup final will be held in Cardiff tomorow, and fans tend to stay in Bristol before hand, problem is they always bring with them trouble in the form of mass riots and fighting in the city centre. Local news is reporting no change in this pattern and websites have already been discovered planning major clashes. Ever have trouble like this in your local area?

I'm a Notts County fan. We get less than 3000 people at some home games. Across the river is Forest. They get about 20,000 for home games. Unless you actually drive past the ground on a match day, you would not know there was a game on at all! Some years back some Milwall fans blockaded themselves into a pub near Forest and the Police had to get them out. That is the only Football trouble I can really remember in our fair city.
Oh yes, I hate Man Utd and I hope the get well stuffed ;)

Yup, in Budapest there are two teams, one from Buda the other from Pest, and when they play its a bit like a Rangers/Celtic derby.
I got caught up once 'cos I didn't own a radio or a TV, or even know different. I literally had to fight my way out of a grim situation. End result fourteen people seriously injured in hospital, a couple of hundred with minor injuries, and the police hiding in their station! I would like to say that the 14 were nothing to do with me! I was just using my fists/elbows/knees/para-boots ;D
Thank goodness I'm a large hairy maniac ;D
Mind you it was about two days before I could hold a whiteboard marker again ::)
I have since learnt to check what football matches are going on, and plan my shopping trips accordingly :)

All it takes is one neaderthal who doesn't care one way or the other to slice you up with a Stanley knife and your life will be taking a turn for the worst.
I used to do boxing and various martial arts, and I served in uniform, and one thing I know for sure is kick the bugger till he's down, then leg it as hard and fast as your pins will carry you. Run away and live another day ;)

Thank goodness we have no top-class football teams around here. We get enough problems with yobbos without coping with so-called football fans. The nearest pro team to me is Brighton & Hove Albion (Seagulls) which is generally rubbish although they did get to the cup final once. 1983 it was against Man United. Drew 2 all on the the day & lost 4 nil in the replay. :o

Good ol' Brighton used to be Man United's bogey team when they were both in the same division. ;) I don't usually bother with football these days but might just watch the match & cheer on Millwall. The underdog often wins agains the the odds. I hate Man United & its manager. Up the Arsenal.......! LOL ;D

You all know me... ;)...!
I can't cope with all this kicking a pigs bladder around a field, leaping upon each others backs, sucking each other, and pulling shirts over their heads, etc, when scoring a "goal", malarky..!
It drives me flippin' nuts.. >:(...!
Is unbelievingly embarrassing.. :-[...!
..and is yet another one of many reasons why I don't bother to buy a flippin' television licence anymore... ;)...!

...Please preserve us from "ball games"... ;)..!

LOL...!

Paul..

P.S..Craig...tell me...there's got to be more exciting things to do in life than kicking seven bells out of a pigs bladder, fer cryin' out loud... ;)... ;)... ;)...!

I don't understand why people loathe Man U....or Fergie. ???

Class all around.

And did anyone actually watch the game?  Wise is a muppet and Ronaldo is pure excellence. 8)

You either love or hate Man U. There is no in between. ;)
I think the reason that people hate them is the fact it's no longer a football club. It was the first club in the country to be run purely as big business. The management regularly rips off the poor loyal fans who still kid themselves it's a football club. The way they treat their old players is a disgrace. This has been going on since the time of the famous "Busby Babes". Some of the talented young players injured in the terrible accident at Munich never played again & were turned out of their homes & abandoned by the management. Fergie is completely ruthless with no thought for anyone but himself. He is the type of person who would sell his own grandmother if he thought he could profit from it. In my opinion of course. ::)

PS. I couldn't be bothered to watch the match. I have better things to do. :P ;)

This is the biggest problem in the English League.  The differance between the bib business clubs and the smaller clubs.  Norwich City got promoted to the Premiership (Div. 1 Champions lol) this season.  They will be straight back down I think.

Big clubs have huge amounts of cash to spend on international players, Chelsea for example is basically the Italian International side.  Or was a couple of years ago anyway.  The smaller clubs have no money whatsoever and will continue to get roundly thrashed.

I agree with Doug about Man U, you have to live at least 50 miles from Manchester to support them.

I saw the end of the match yesterday, and for the first time ever wanted Millwall to win.
Who switched the lights off?

I agree with Hagar about Man Utd, you either love or hate them, no in between. I neither love nor hate Arsenal. As for Chelsea, well we played them in the cup last October. Pamela and I made the trip to London to watch the game (we don't get to see many super star players in the third division ;)) and had a really great time. The ground is fantastic and every Chelsea fan I spoke to wished us luck. Also, Chelsea gave Notts a larger cut of the gate money and made some other donations towards Notts County's fighting fund as we were in danger of going out of business at the time. I don't think Man Utd or Arsenal would have done that.
