I actually was at The Children's Science Museum in Raleigh Durham, NC. and they had an incredible exhibit. It was a huge glass terrarium. In it were the leaf cutting ants of the tropical rain forest. At one end was the area where the branches were with the leaves. The various glass areas were connected by glass tubes. At the other end was the entrance to the ants home. You could watch hundreds of ants marching from one end along the branches, to the leaves, chomp a few bites, then turn around and head back to their home. When they got back, you could see them enter the home and then go underground. Once underground, there were many tunnels with various purposes. Larva's were kept warm, the queen was kept guarded...it was really interesting to watch this entire dance the ants were doing!
