I've been sitting here going over the documentation,

and exploring the XML gauges, and I'm pretty sure that I understand how to adjust the parameters for them now.

However, I see that the parameters for RE1_EnginePowerLimitations_EngineRoughnessFailure_v10.xml are there for the Baron58,

but are not present in

I've learned two important lessons tonight using this gauge:

Yeah.. once you get past having to THINK about this running.. and just fly the plane respectfully.. you'll forget it's there.. until that one day you're in a hurry and push things..lol

The last engine we put in that Warrior, was about $22,000 worth of respect..   :D

I've got it installed into a C-150, and a Piper Warrior II now (both FS9) and the difference in the simming experience is outstanding!!  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Actually having to pay attention to the gauges is tense at times, while also making sure you're going in the correct direction.  :o

Brett, I'm glad the cost of respect on my Warrior isn't as costly as the real thing we flew, or my grandchildren would be in debt!  ;D  ;)

I'll remember that when my children get a little older and tell me they want to have kids.  ;D  ;)

I'm still trying to find a way to make this gauge remember time spent on it, and wear inflicted.

Then when I hit the reset button, it will be like doing the 'rebuild' only way easier, and much cheaper.  8-)

That would be the final piece, making this truly a freeware AccuSim..

On this 'accumulated wear' idea.

I have noticed, in my FS9 App Data folder, that there is a folder called AIRCRAFT.

Inside that folder, are folders for every aircraft I have installed.

And inside each of those is a document called state.cfg.

the only line in most of them reads as:

This is for the Cessna C150:

[engine.0]
accumulated_time=6.420205

default Baron 58:

[engine.0]
accumulated_time=6.011560
[engine.1]
accumulated_time=6.002001

And this is from the default 747:

[engine.0]
accumulated_time=0.038204
[engine.1]
accumulated_time=0.038204
[engine.2]
accumulated_time=0.038204
[engine.3]
accumulated_time=0.038204

Since it appears that FS is indeed keeping track

of how much time an engine is used,

is there any way that this data,

or the file could be associated with the realengine gauge

to track the wear & tear on the engines,

and remember it for the next time?

I'm just throwing ideas out there.

That's what inspired me .. simple text file to read/write from.

If we were actual programmers, this would be laughably easy, I'm sure.

If we could call up COBOL routines, I'd be done already..lol

Ok, then I think it's just time that I took a programming course.  ;D

The problem is, the last time I did ANY kind of programming, it was on a TRS-80.  :-[   :D

I'm so far behind the times on computer language, I don't even know where to begin.

I know this idea is the solution, so it all boils down to figuring out how to get the gauge to take that Time_accumulated value into account before it loads the rest of it's values.

It wouldn't even have to store any additional data, it would only have to read what is in that file, and then apply a set of predetermined 'wear' conditions for that value.

Rawr! It's so frustrating being so 'computer illiterate' sometimes.  :-[
