I checked out that Air Canada 777-300. The explanation is quite simple. The VC model is included but Model.cfg will need editing to recognise it.

If you open the Model folder you should see two MDL files + a file named Model.cfg. The MDL files are named OS773ERV2--L.mdl & OS773ERV2--L_VC.mdl. (The latter is the VC model.)

Open Model.cfg in Notepad & you will see this.
[models]
normal=OS773ERV2--L

Change it to this to point it at the VC model.
[models]
normal=OS773ERV2--L_VC

Exit Notepad saving changes when prompted.
If you try the 777 in FSX you will now see something like this. The VC now displays but the textures are missing.
Image

You can download the missing VC textures from the Posky site. Get the 32-bit set here. http://www.projectopensky.com/downloads.php?aircraft=842ytv5p8&location=panelpackage
(Note that these are the 777-200 textures which are exactly the same.)
Extract the file & paste the 26 texture files into the texture.aca folder of your 777-300.
If you try it in FSX now you should see this.

Hope that explains it. You can update it to the glass panel & gauges if you wish by downloading the appropriate files from the above link.

Very many thanks Hagar - will offski now and try it.

Hmm. Interesting. Please try the textures. It might not be fully compatible with all versions of FSX. I only have the Demo.

Ah Ha!  Bingo!  Well almost....

I now have the VC, but like yours in the pic, there's bits of another grey panel showing through.  Those bits do appear to have click spots in them, but somewhat jumbled.

Is it a case of nearly but not quite?

Keeping things on site -- there is a good panel update for Posky 777 on this page. The file includes textures, gauges & works in FSX with Posky 777's

I try to test most things that I don't know before approving. If it has a problem & comes to my attention , it does not get approved. - This file tested OK.

Thanks Guys

I've tried every 777 on that page (though they're mostly 772s not 773s).

They all have the same problem with the VC, as seen below. The grey areas of the 2d panel below it, obscure the switches for the VC.

The image included with the download is just the same, so maybe I'm asking too much - maybe there isn't a 'SWITCHABLE' VC for the Posky777?

Okay - so... next question then..... :)

I have the Wilco 777-200, which has a naff flight model (IMO) :o

Might there be a way of merging the Posky 773 with the Wilco panel?

There's no way of swapping the VC on FS9 models.

Please check your PMs. (At the top of the forum page)

I refer to the actual 'Panel Update for the Posky 777' ......  which will work or 200 or 300 .... it is a quick fix & works for both ....

It uses default 737-800 & 747-400 gauges so there are many clickable gauges ...

The reaso I know it should work is I have used this panel in about 5 777-300's all OK ... I will download the file in question & check it out   ...
