Bright yellow or green borders between states and/or countries, so we know where we are at a glance. The city & state or city & country called-out on the screen where the airports are that we pass along the way to our destination. Make these able to be toggled on or off at any time.
My system: AMD Phenom 9500 cpu, 2 x eVGA e-GeForce 8800GTS Superclocked vidcards (640Mb DDR3 each), Zalman "sunflower" 9700 fan, Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4 mobo, 4Gb G.Skill PC2-6400 DDR2 800Mhz RAM, 2 x Sony 20X DVD writers, Thermaltake Toughpower 8

If you are navigating like you should be in the first place, you shouldn't have to wonder what country you're over.... ;D

ATC speed commands - Standard, reduce to holding speed, 160-4, 170-5 etc depending on weight and traffic - speed up, slow down at busy destinations....good seperation depending on preceding aircraft on take off and landing, vortex wake turbulence.....

I was just flying and I highly agree with that. ;)

I never use GPS, but a WAAS capable GPS in FS11 would be interesting..

Crikey, i could go on and on  ;) minimum clean, no speed restriction... hows about an overall more intelligent ATC being able to knock off waypoints if traffic permits such as 'proceed direct' etc.....

I would like to see in Fs-11 a much easier mutliplayer interface without gamespy >:( . And Better performance but with great looking scenery. And one more thing i would liek to see a more true to life ATC especially when filing IFR.
LOL i could go on and on

Here's my MSFS 11 wish list, in order...

* Better utilization of quad-core cpus, especially those with hyper-threading (thanks though for the SP improvements in 10)

* More realistic slip characteristics. Case in point: Fly the original Extra 300 and then fly the Acceleration version. If you have much experience in non-virtual aircraft you'll see a huge difference. The original Extra has the basic flight dynamic problems of most airplanes in MSFS: the airplane improperly handles slips. Rate of descent in a full-rudder slip is increased by a negligible amount in most MSFS X aircraft, but the acceleration Extras see substantial drag from the slips, which is more realistic. They also see lift from the fuselage in knife-edge flight. Please give me planes that I can do realistic cross-wind landings in, and that I can slip if I need to lose altitude. If I want to practice cross-wind landings, it would be nice if I didn't have to fly the Acceleration Extra all the time.

* Get rid of need to hold rudder in turns! I will grant that motorboats hold rudder in a turn, but airplanes do not need to do so. They need a little coordinated rudder with aileron displacement to counteract adverse yaw, but once the ailerons are neutralized in a medium-banked turn, the rudder should be too (unless right rudder is needed in higher-angle-of-attack climbs due to p-factor). Even my beloved Acceleration version of the Extra 300 requires rudder in the turn to keep the ball in the center (egads!). This is a horrible thing, because we're teaching sim pilots to hold rudder in the direction of turn, and it will give these sim pilots a dangerous habit should they transition to non-virtual aircraft (skidding their turns).

* More realistic stall and spin behavior: Hey, the quad-core Nehalems are giving Microsoft more horsepower to work with. Use some of it to give the acro simmers a better flight experience.

* Damage which can be inflicted in the air (menu or through overstress). Did you see the recent scam video of the aerobatic plane losing its right wing and then making a successful landing? The landing was performed by an R/C airplane controlled by someone who learned to make one-wing landings from an R/C PC simulator. Why can't we give MSFS pilots an opportunity to practice these same things?

There's a big group of potential flight simmers out there who fly non-virtual airplanes. If the flight dynamics of MSFS X improves, we'll offer more of them a worthwhile sim experience.

Thx, Papafox

Mm.. like many of the others here, I want a updated ATC. The one we've been having until now is..  ::) well, pretty unrealistic as you can't even call maydays or some of those pretty vital things. ;)

  • more comprehensive/realistic training "campaign", from absolute beginner to moderate skill
more structured like a real flight school/training program would be
include (comprehensive) training on instrument flying
include (comprehensive) training on flight planing
    include training on emergencies
free flight mode capability for training scenarios, so your "trainer" isn't trying to control things for you but everythign else is the same
training campaigns for the different types of aircraft (props, seaplanes, jets, helicoptors)

  • Custom Campaign module capability
SDK to allow things like custom kneeboards and pre-made flights (including weather conditions)
    payware/freeware training campaigns
payware/freeware flight situations (747 bird strikes at takeoff, etc)
    easy to use/make stuff

  • better maps and map overlays, especially during flight (pause and go to map then overlay it with easy to see landmarks/borders, etc)

  • Free Flight mode that can start in mid air with set conditions (10,000 feet at cruising speed, with weather conditions)
more data in included recorded flights (seperate readouts/gauges for airspeed, altitude, atitude, windspeed/direction, etc)

  • Passenger/co-pilot mode
I'd love to be the passenger in a PBY Catalina (5A or 6A), sitting in that big bubble near the back.

I fully second the below as well

1. Better flight planning interface so it's possible to really plan something thoroughly using FS only using the map in there, do calculations needed, get distances and bearings from one place to another by clicking on the map (like SkyVector), see magnetic variation etc. Obviously within the limitations of the FS map, I wouldn't expect en-route charts for the whole world or anything.  :D

2. More in-game HELP for beginning pilots. Something like a personal advisor that will help you plan your flight, then when you fly it will tell you what you should be doing as you go. For example, if you need to tune the nav radio navigate to an NDB, it will tell you 'Now tune to --- frequency on Nav1" at the appropriate place in a flight, and if you can't remember how, or what it means, then you can click and read the appropriate help. Or - 'you need to correct more for wind, set heading 189 degrees'. I wouldn't expect it for all planes, but for the 172 and then one commercial jet aircraft it would be very helpful indeed. There is just SO much to remember if you don't have an aviation background, and it's often a real puzzle to work out if you are doing things right and why (not) when nobody is there to tell you - yep on the right track. Off course, you can switch it off... ;)

Wishlist

*3d breaking waves/sandy distinguishable beaches
*3d interior passenger cabins I can move the camera around in for all aircraft. like the one in the sony PS plane for FS 2004.  (airliners and some prop planes lack them)
*REALISTIC DAMAGE MODELING AND EFFECTS! I really hoped FSX would have these feautres and was dissapointed to find it didn't
*realistic sinking. If i skim the water with a non-amphibious aircraft instead of just saying SPASH! I should eventualy stop and sink. There should be some underwater detail though verry little is nessesary. I would like the plane to settle on the sea floor at some point.

Other than that I would like combat and space flight expansions as previously mentioned. However the features listed above are most important to me :)
I can has a taco?

In flight video recorder (AVI etc)

Kneeboard maps!!!!!

In the next (or even current FS...) I would like to see fscharts create an addon for FSX that you can check the airport charts in flight. (Seeing the taxiways etc) All for better ground navigation.

I'd like to see the ability to swap out virtual cockpits! If you don't like that particular default VC for "that" plane...just download a third party one. Just like how we do now with the 2D panels. I really think that will be something "they" do though.

Better water and runway to grass transition textures. (Something other than that straight lined runway...)

Sloped runways and better lights!

More realistic traffic, NOT slamming the plane on the ground. Not a big one but the current AI landings are a bit unrealistic.

Easier file format for repainting? :-?

8-)

Now that i7 is out, and by 2009/10 I'll have a Hyper threading capable computer, make FS11 threaded.

More advanced ATC; as in responding to failures, putting aircraft in holding patterns etc.

ATC 'complexity' would be set by a slider, so newbie pilots won't have to deal with holding patterns and stuff like that.
