I dont use Vista for this hardware so there can be UAC or admin rights issues involved with installing such devices I am not aware of

Q14928 - FAQ: Do you have support for Windows Vista / Windows Server 2008?

9650SE/9690SA

Official support for the 9650SE/9690SA controllers is available with the 9.5.1 code set http://www.3ware.com/support/download.asp.

You may need to contact 3Ware for direct instructions... their online support system is great for that or call them directly

did I mention I dont use Vista?

it sounds like some kind of Vista driver cert crap refusing to allow the driver to install

I would contact 3ware and ask them.. I bet they have the solution ready and waiting for you

The only other possibility is some strange incompatibility issue with Vista 64 and the BIOS/chipset for the PEG controller on the motherboard which allows the card to be run in the 2nd PCie video card slot

as long as you are sure you are browsing to the correct driver and inf file location I am sure its probably some Vista quark 3Ware will tell you how to get past

Nick, when I access the controller settings by using Alt 3, at post and under settings, there is a controller bios option to enable or disable boot.

Didn't get anything good back from 3ware, they said check that the card is plugged in.

OK so you just can not make it into the browser because it will not network

have you checked to see if the Vista firewall is causing it... completely disable the firewall?

Disable any security software too

File and print sharing enabled?

Print and file sharing may need to be enabled, not sure... I know without it enabled the intranet which is the same as communicating with local host may not be possible.

And I know you needed to be on the 951 codest for Vista support so it was probably a combination of.. you can disable file and print share, reboot and see if you still have communication with the card.. if not then thats what the problem was with localhost.

Nick, ATTO bench is scoring my FSX drive in the 500-600mb range across 2, 8, and 32 lengths.  Is that realistic or a glitch with the 64 bit OS?

As long as you have not done any cache edits and using the same settings I can see a burst of that speed with certain drives such as 3GB/s Samsung 32MB cache 500GB units but sustained at that speed on 2 drives is not possible... 4 yes, 2 no

I would have to question the Atto application in the Vista OS
