You're better off without it. Those Thumbs.db files shouldn't be there & are more likely to cause problems.

Those are created by Windows whenever you have Views/Thumbnails or Views/Filmstrip enabled in the Explorer window...

They are perfectly harmless to pets, people and files... ;)

Not so. Try including them in a self-extracting zipfile & see what happens when you attempt to extract it over an existing installation.

There are 5 Thumbs.db files in CitationI-500.zip. I'm not suggesting that they are causing a problem in this case & this is a red herring.

Oh, I see what you mean. This happens if you don't have full permissions set for the flightsim folders. The OS treats .db files as "protected system files" unless you've explicitly given yourself permission to modify all files.

This is yet another reason to not install FS into the default ..\Program Files path, but instead use a custom path such as C:\FSX or some other hard drive.

I am extremely careful to not include thumbs.db or any other extraneous and unnecessary files in my build folders when compiling a project's installer or zip file.

Flying Mouse:  I had that problem too, but there are two simple solutions

1. Hit keyboard Q and it turns the sound off.  You can read your magazine in peace while keeping an ocassional eye on progress.

2.  Go into the Options menu, find Sounds and adjust engine noise down, and cockpit sound up.  Plenty of adjustment to play with.  I find in Spot view that is helpful to have engine noise well down, especially with turboprops.

Here's a thought (I'm tired and it's late so I might be goofy)...

If you know what you're doing... open texture with DxtBmp... send it to the editor; resize it to 1024X1024 .. save.. "Reload after edit" in DxtBmp (meaning you never closed it) and then save as DXT5 (you might have to resize the alpha, too, I'm not sure).

I believe the mapping is proportional.. meaning as long as it's "square", it will show up just fine.

Of course this reduces the resolution, but it's better than nothing.

That's the way it works in previous versions of FS so I don't see why FSX would be any different. I could never understand why Alex was saying the textures would need remapping in order to resize them. You might also need to resize the Alpha channels to match.

Alex, just downloaded and flew. EXCELLENT!! Everything works and looks fine. Took me awhile to figure out how to change the heading from the VC, lol. The only thing out of the ordinary for me is the low oil pressure light stays on? Not a problem though. Just wanted to say thanks to all involved for making such a quality aircraft and for making it FREE, almost feel guilty flying it for free!
Thanks again,
