Use of PerfectDisk with my list:
===============================================
PD uses a "combined' algorithm of last access and another method which is why you may not have noticed anything, especially right away.. and, it takes 60-90 days (sometimes 120 days) for it to really begin to mess things up because the current time/date stamps will retain the file location integrity... when that time runs out.. PD will begin to mess up a drive with last access disabled, count on it
I dont post them warnin's fer nuthin
Unless PD changed something in their design in the last year that I did not hear about, those files on your drives are not in optimal order.. except the boot files.. and if you are judging things by the way windows boots, thats a mistake because PD will keep that in order and my edits above will also make that more efficient with PD, but the files past boot are not.
I only use O&O.
Not sure how to upload pics here so I have put them on my website

Nick, Remember, these were general baselines and I did try with your recommended settings. No noticeable difference between anisotropic and trilinear to speak of, if that is what you're referring to.
Just to recap, Nick..
Reset all sliders to the left, unticked all checkboxes, so all available cpu cycles would be available to graphics as much as is possible.
I then moved all sliders related to graphics all the way right. (Actually, these were tried in varying degrees also). I have tried these with both unlimited FPS, and 30/31 FPS.
This is all stock stuff, no add-ons. Remember, before SP1 I had NO blurries, and on a considerably lesser system.
I would suspect that at these settings I should have very crisp graphics indeed.
Maybe my vid card is bad, except that it plays Crysis extremely well, and that takes a lot of HP. So I am really confused by all of this.
Out of all the settings I have mucked around with, the one that gives me the most noticeable benefit has to be LOD_radius, set at 8.000000,
Thanks.

its not the video card Art but it could be the driver revison and how you have them set up..
I'm on 169.21 which is the most recent (to my knowledge) certified driver.
More than likely you got a BUM SP2 install... seen it happen more than once. Did you follow the list I made for installing FSX, from scratch?
Yes, I installed clean, from scratch.
And I am telling you right now... all those things you are doing like moving sliders to the far left and changing FSC.cfg settings manually are WRONG
the settings I posted, although a bit HIGH, should get you in the ball park... if they dont, then something is not right
I agree something is certainly not right.
the only thing in the FSX.cfg file with SP2 you should be concerned with is the WIDESCREEN, DISABLE PRELOAD, TEXTURE BANDWIDTH MULTIPLIER, which should NEVER go over 80 and should be between 35 and 80, usually its left at DEFAULT... and, BUFFERPOOLS
That's pretty much all I have focused on, with the exception of LOD_radius as I mentioned. And that seems to be the only setting I change which seems to make any difference. Changing the TBM to 60 or anything within the range you suggest yields no obvious differences. One thing I have not changed since the fsx.cfg rebuild is the wideview, and I shall do that now.
thats it.. you screw with anything else and you will end up with trouble
Sliders to full off will net you nothing but a MESS.. Delete the FSX,cfg file and start rebuilding with what I posted and if its not right, there is something wrong
I really question 100+FPS.. if you are set up right you should not see any more than 58 on peaks in the middle of nowhere.. in cities you will never see that on your system.
Well, I'm not making this up. That's what I get when I set it to unlimited.
