Yes Alrot

That is Phil Taylor the head of the FSX dev team at Aces.

I want to ask everyone to please remember he is not tech support for FSX or Microsoft products.

When he is here, he comes by to see what issues people may be discussing and what people are doing to overcome problems. This helps the dev team further understand and outline goals for updates.

Mr. Taylor is very easy to get along with. He is also a sim user as well so his interests are more than just professional. He has a real life too.

I try to answer as many queries on FSX as I can but if anyone started quoting my nick and asking me directly then I`d be more than a little mad about it.  A forum is for anyone who has a vested interest or knowledge of a subject to take the reins and answer a query.  Alternatively exchanging experiences of the flight sim world.  A persons position is not of any consequence, in here they are treated fairly as a member, or should be.  As nick said, Phil is not the head of the technical department anyway and should not be treated that way.  He comes here of his own free will, and to my knowledge does not get paid or expect to get paid for this.  Give the guy a break and please treat as you would or should any other member of this forum, with respect.  How many other people in the same positions from other companies in the flight sim world do you see coming here and posting information, help, tips, updates on future events?  Not many and even less if we don`t treat them fairly in the first place.

Quoted from above......

Yes, I have the settings for detect crashes and damage enabled and I have allow collisions with other aircraft unchecked so it has nothing to do with settings

Surely you need to leave this checked, not unchecked......

Reider

Did you actually try Reider's suggestion??

:-?

That doesn't make sense to me  :-/

This is exactly what the box says....

"Allow Collisions with Other Aircraft   (Then the check box)"

If you want to fly right thru other aircraft, then you would check the box right?  :-/  If you wanted FS to give you the crash thing you would leave it unchecked? The word-ing is wierd.... I'm not sure if it means "Allow Collisions" As in let them happen but don't show "Crash", OR "Allow Collisions" as in Crash....

Does any one understand what I'm saying?

It's not worded weird at all, it clearly says 'Allow collisions with other aircraft', you then put a tick in the box to indicate yes. Just as you would with any other form your likely to fill in that has 'tick boxes'. Whats so difficult about that?

You tick the box if you want to be able to have crashes.

FS9, for correct crash detection and aircraft collisions settings =

"Detect Crashes and Damage" CHECKED
"Allow Collisions with other aircraft" = UNCHECKED

and just to be sure they did not mess that up in FSX I changed them both several different ways trying one enabled and the other disabled, both enabled and both disabled.

same results as listed above, except with "Detect Crashes and Damage" unchecked, there was no crash for any structure, tree, etc

so eveyone can stop listing what I did or didint do right

FSX changed how AI and the airport buildings respond to contact, it's a simple as that

and its no fun either. especially if I know when coming into a socked in airport I see a plane on the runway, I dont have to pull up to avoid the crash bar or the penalty of not flying out of the situation.

that is where the mistake was made. The sim should record the penalty of a crash and wihout that threat, why bother pulling up to avoid. If my wheels hit the other plane, then the struts should be damaged and I should have to belly land assuming the damage did not invoke enough to flip the aircraft. Which by the way has happened in FS9 at Heathrow in heavy fog. I clipped an AI with my rear wheel and the strut was damaged like hitting the ground too hard. I made it down in a controlled landing and the plane came to a stop without the crashbar. That is what "As real as it gets" is all about.

There has to be a reward and a penalty. The same as in real flying

The reward is you make it down no matter what the condition of the aircraft

The penalty is you dont walk away if you did not do it right

"As real as it gets" is no longer a true statement other than the statement saying "Thats as real as we are going to give it to you, have fun"

"Any landing you can walk away from is a good landing"

I guess I can walk away from them all now, no matter what plane gets in my way

Didn't MS change the building crash realism after 9/11 --  so as to reduce the opportunity for people to practice these horrific events?

Has anybody noticed this is missing....

No, I never crash.  ;D j/k

Usually I leave collisions with other aircraft turned off. Been that way since FS2002 because of the stupid AI. I have a perfect approach going after a three hour flight and suddenly some AI smacks into me from behind and the whole flight is ruined.

The one thing I really wished for in FSX was better acting AI. It's been that way since I started simming and still no fix.
