I set everything up to update manually, they`re all a pain in the rear even if it is handy. All you need to do is check them all out once a week or so while you`re having your tea or something. HP are the biggest culprits, they have some program that reports back, checks for updates and keeps an eye on any printers. Theirs no choice but to install it, no choice to uninstall it and no choice in configuring it-time to stop buying HP now, always liked them too. I use the registry to force them out, but this is not for everyone and needs some care in doing it. If using the flight sim offline, then I turn off all task tray items, the network gets stopped, the AV gets stopped from monitoring-takes about 2 mins to turn off and back on, then I use FSX nice and smoothly with full power and no darned interruptions.
