reverse thrust X-52

Postby fulanito_uk » Sun Jan 13, 2008 8:23 am

Hi i have a x-52 joystick/throttle and when landed I hit the F2 key but i don't think i get full reverse thrust,I think the joystick which is in idle sends messages to the pc saying 0% thrust which conflicts with the -X% reverse thrust... any idea how to fix this?

F2 merely reduces your throttle setting, it doesn't activate reverse thrust. That is either CTRL or SHIFT P if I remember correctly (ages since I flew a jet) ;)

F2 is indeed the reverse thrusther when the throttle is on idle, you do need too keep the key pressed though. I have had this problem you described, and i got the X-52. I assigned F2 too the E-button on the throttle.

If it still doesnt work try checking the settings in Fightsimulator, and are you sure that the plane your flying is equiped with reverse thrusthers? Also, reverse thrusthers are only effective up too 60IAS, below that they dont do much, use the autobrake or wheelbrakes too slow down beyond that speed.

You could also try setting a small deadzone on the throttle, too avoid the stick sliding back, mine tend too do that if i dont keep it gently pushed into its idle position.

EDIT: Shift-P is the pushback!

Anytime, i got all important instruments programmed on the stick, so when im landing i dont need too remove my hands from the stick or throttle!

I used to have the bottom 20% of my X52 throttle assigned to operate F2, that way I could operate the reverse thrust & throttles all with one control.

There is an indent on the throttle at the 20% mark, so it is extremely easy to use the throttle as normal without activating the reverse thrust by accident.

Works like a charm.

It's actually quite easy, once you've opened the X52 profile editor & selected the throttle, just follow the steps below:

Image

You will notice that, although in my earlier post I said 20%, I have actually set it at 18% in the editor, this gives just a little bit more leeway when the throttle hits the indent at 20%, it helps to stop the reverse thrust coming on unintentionally.

IMPORTANT NOTE: When the throttle is set to activate F2, you must remember not to leave the throttle in that position when not using FS9, the PC thinks F2 is being repeatedly pressed & it slows things down an awful lot.

I inserted a smaller 5% zone above the 18/20 one, and put it on constantly F1, constantly idling the throttles, so i would have a small deadzone for the engines.

Yeah, that would have the same effect.

Have you tried it in FS yet? What did you think? I found it much better than hitting F1 then F2.

Cheers,

Sure is, although i never had that problem, i used the big button on top for it, or the POV on the back of it.
