Rod Machado is being stupid

Postby ThomasKaira » Sun Aug 19, 2007 3:25 pm

I am currently finding the Commercial pilot lesson uncompletable because Rod Machado expects me to maintain 210 knots at 22 inches of manifold pressure all the way back to Bremerton, and the only possible way to do that is to descend at about 1500 fpm, and being 15nm away from the airport, attempting to do this will only result in me nosediving into the ground while he constantly asks me to "speed up" "push foward on the stick" "decrease manifold pressure to 22 inches."

Rod: "Why did you crash, Jet Ranger?"

Jet Ranger: "Because you asked me to."

>:(

I am referencing computer Rod, not real Rod. Real Rod would mactually know what he was doing, and would never have asked me to try such a preposterous maneuver until I was much closer to the airport.

No offense to the real Rod, but the lessons are quite annoying. The are educational though! A must take for FS enjoyment!

I had the same type of issue during my ATP lesson. Other times, the lesson went well under the exact same circumstances. I think ol Computer Rod needs to submit to drug testing.

I would be at 250kts/90% N1 as instructed... "Speed Up" "Maintain 250 kts". OK, I'd speed up..."Decrease N1 to 90%", "Slow down". Id slow down. "Speed up", and eventually: "Since you seem to be distracted, blah blah". ;D ;D ::)

Yea, Rod Machado is pretty stupid in the game.  I gave up during IFR because he was being really annoying.   Ah well, I seem to have learned fairly well on my own ;)

I've been dying to meet Rod so I can ask him if he knows that FS has made him look like the world's worst instructor...maybe they paid him to keep quiet.   :D

i didnt find that lesson as hard as your sayign it seems..most lessons i had to redo a few times, sometimes 5-6 times, but that one i did in like 4 tries, all i can say is best of luck and keep trying, learn from your mistakes! remember what you did wrong the previous try and try not to do it again!

best of luck!
