Sorry if this is a "stupid" question, but are you leaning for altitude?

I've found that the fall off in MP with increase in altitude is pretty darn accurate in every piston plane I've simmed with.; power too. Now fuel-flow is another thing, but it's close enough if you know to look for the error.

Per Rotty.. proper leaning is well modeled too (far as MP and power go)..

edit:  You can turn on "auto mixture" under realism settings.. but what fun is that ?

Might not be much fun, but on some planes, like the DC3, it's quite correct. After all the real DC3 have a function of automixture that FS default plane lack.

Easy on the guy, he said "*piston* plane".  ;)

Does anyone have the answer to the question please?

The behavior you so much detest is wired inside the plane's flight dynamics, and unless you can't either edit those or bear with it, you better find another and better plane to pilot. :)

[quote]My 310 panel is showing about 19" at 5k. If you think that's "pretty darn accurate" then I wouldn't want to fly with you for sure! It's often advisable to engage brain prior to eating one's foot.
