ALT. 99,999 FT. ?

Postby Giteen » Sat Nov 25, 2006 8:41 pm

Quick question.....

I have purchased FSX and know there are much higher places you can go (in FSX).  My question is-  Is there any way to change the max altitude or take away this limiter in FS9? ???

You mean like go to out of space like in the actual fsx? I don't think so.I haven't see anything thru all this years that goes over 99.999 feets.. and if you would you may see the a flat map instead a glove earth ,see FS9 was built based on two dimension map ,Instead FSX is made in three dimention spere..

In what file or document or fs9 item is the max altitude controlled?  Give me a directory if anyone knows.

You cannot change the max altitude.  That is hard coded into the program.  Besides, if you went much higher youd see that the FS9 world is just a huge cylinder, so it would be very disappointing to go into orbit

Jake is quite right there is no way to change it. And it wasn't for a lack of trying by a lot of very clever people here.....

Nope. Bring your plane as up as possible, put your eyepoint over the plane, zoom out and look for yourself.

In FS9 the earth is still spherical. It's the coordinates systems that use a cylindrical-like mapping.

PS
WHY is that? Ask Bill, not me.

When I tried to open a .dll in the FS9 folder Uncle Bill made me reinstall for the 3rd time(the list is now stable at 19 reinstalls on the new rig to get it to run good).

I dont know that that's right.  Yes the 'top down' view gives you a sphere, but have you ever nticed that it changes at different zooms?  If you get really far out the worldis a different texture.  In fact you can change the texture.  Im pretty sure that the FS world IS a cylinder and the top down view sphere is something else altogether.  Just look at what happens at the poles...

I opened the ATC.dll file and changed some strings inside it...Just fooled around after making a back up and edited some strings...Don't know if it works... ;D

PS: It's probably illegal, but since I am not selling or giving away the file, I guess I should be OK :-X

How do you go about opening a .dll file if it is compiled? (I think its compiled, I haven't checked yet)  What did you open it with?  ???

I used ResourceHacker...It decompiles and recompiles the files...http://www.angusj.com/resourcehacker/...Also, if you want to open a .dll file, use a text VIEWER, not any editor...That can cause some problems...

Like I said, I've changed some strings but I do not know if they will work... :P
