Problems with Boeing 737-200

Postby FKW » Sun Mar 06, 2005 10:55 pm

Hello,

I have some problems with the custom made 737-200 aircraft. Is the one based on Erik Cantu.
Let me explain the problem: I downloaded and installed the Iraqi Airways 737-200, then when I want to add other ones, like for example the LanChile one it keep ever the first one installed not let me add more. Also I noticed that the textures have different names and cannot add them as texture.1 etc.

I tried to replace their names of "737-200" to something like "737-200 LanChile" but I can only load one of them, one I try to load another it got replaced by the first I choose.

How can I solve my problem?

Well, lemme throw something in here just because no one else has replied.
My suggestion, and only suggestion, is to make another plane seperate the Iraqi Airways one and put the LanChile textures in it's texture folder. Panel and sound alias to the IA one, UNLESS they are aliased to the default, in which case you will have to alias the LanChile version to the default as well.
Copy over the Model, Aircraft.cfg, and .AIR files in addition to any checklists or reference material that might have come with it. Open the Aircraft.cfg file and change the ui_variation line from something along the lines of "Iraqi Airways" to "LanChile". And change the aircraft's title (the first line I believe) from whatever it is to something different:
example using the default 737 (sorry it's huge and I messed with the names to match your scenario more realistically.):
CHANGE FROM:
[fltsim.0]
title=Boeing 737-400 Iraqi Airways
sim=Boeing737-400
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=
kb_checklists=Boeing737-400_check
kb_reference=Boeing737-400_ref
atc_id=N5139
atc_airline=Iraqi
atc_flight_number=1352
ui_manufacturer=Boeing
ui_type="737-400"
ui_variation="Iraqi Airways"
description="One should hardly be surprised that the world's most prolific manufacturer of commercial aircraft is also the producer of the world's most popular jetliner. The 737 became the best-selling commercial jetliner worldwide when orders for it hit 1,831 in June 1987 (surpassing Boeing's own 727 as the previous champ). However, it wasn't always that way\s in the first few years of production, there were so few orders that Boeing considered canceling the program. They didn't, and the airplane has more than proven itself in over three decades of service."
visual_damage=1

CHANGE TO:
[fltsim.0]
title=Boeing 737-400 LanChile
sim=Boeing737-400
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=
kb_checklists=Boeing737-400_check
kb_reference=Boeing737-400_ref
atc_id=N52181
atc_airline=LanChile
atc_flight_number=8801
ui_manufacturer=Boeing
ui_type="737-400"
ui_variation="LanChile"

It should work if you do that from what I know of the simulator. If it doesn't I am sorry I made you read all of that.

What about multiple textures for the same aircraft?

This is what I did for my 727-200 (files shortened for posting purposes)

[fltsim.0]
title=Boeing 727-200 American Airlines
sim=727200
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=aa
atc_id=N727AA
atc_heavy=0
atc_flight_number=727
atc_airline=American

[fltsim.1]
title=United Airlines
sim=727200
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=01
atc_id=N7269U
atc_heavy=0
atc_flight_number=722
atc_airline=United

[fltsim.2]
title=727-200 Pan Am Old colours
sim=727200
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=02
atc_id=N297AS
atc_heavy=0
atc_flight_number=722
atc_airline=Pan Am

[fltsim.3]
title=727-200 Delta 1776-1976
sim=727200
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=1776
atc_id=N332DA
atc_heavy=0
atc_flight_number=308
atc_airline=DELTA

I set the texture value to equal what the extension was for the indivicual texture files. I have 5 different textures for this aircraft so far and my goal is to see what the maximum number oif textures that can be used.

And I quote FKW

I noticed that the textures have different names and cannot add them as texture.1 etc.

I understand that. If you notice one of my textures is texture.1776 and another is texture.aa.

To add textures they dont have to have a .01 or .02 as the extension. The extension can be almost anything you want so long as the file starts with texture.

When the system reads the aircraft.cfg file it selects the texture according to the file extension so as long as you have the texture file loaded into the aircraft directory and the extension of the texture file placed in the texture= line you should be all set.

What I think he means is the textures have different filenames.
i.e. fuselage_left.bmp for the IA version and perhaps left_fuselage.bmp for the LanChile version, so when the sim reads the textures it doesn't know where to apply it. Just my thoughts.

Yes Saratoga, I did what you posted. However the sim have problems with it, I dont know for what. I tough it could be that the textures filenames are different and use the same .air file. I tried changing the name of the air file but then the plane dont load.

So by the moment I cant have one of them only at once, If I choose one then the other are not available, is strange is available at preview but when I choose by press accept it go back to the previous one.

You can test it by the following: download the Iraqi Airways 737-200 and then get another (I dont remember if I got the LanChile one there), from Simviation of course.

:)It sounds like Its not reading the file.Go to your texture right click on it and go to properties and put a check mark in the box by read only.That should do it ;D

I solved the problem by a very easy way I missed. On top there was a description "Boeing 737-200 E.C." and both the IA and LC had it there, I changed it and now both are selecectable.
