I think what they are, are planes from FS2000, which have been redone, and arent really compatible with FS2004.....

There is a way to fix some of those problems and might get your landing gear to show up. Had a similar problem with another acft. of mine.

Go to your FS9.config file located here: My Computer/Local Disc X (your hard drive)/Documents and Settings/YOUR NAME folder/Application Data/Microsoft/FS9.  **** If you don't see one of the folders, you will have to turn on "Hidden Folders" option.  To do this, click on "Tools" in one of the folders, "Folder Options" and then hit the "View" Tab. Scroll down and on the "Hidden Folders" area check "Show Hidden Folders".

Now, make a copy of your FS9.cfg file, put it on your desktop and rename it to, say, FSp.orig........or whatever you like. Just so you know this is your good one to have handy.  Put the renamed one back into the folder.

Now, open the FS9.cfg, NOT the one you just renamed.
Scroll down halfway until you see this section:

[FrameCallNoWarn]

No under this you will probably have a list of some acft. Maybe a few or maybe alot. Some in there, add the exacat name of the acft. you are having trouble with. You can get this from the model.cfg or Acft.cfg at the top where it says"title="

Add that like this for example:

Lockheed SR-71A=1

The number 1 denotes TRUE. Some of the acft. there might have a 0. Your acft. might already be listed there. IN this case, if it is set to 0 (zero), then change it to a 1.

Close out the files and go fly and see if that fixed the landing gear problems.

Good luck Pilot.

And beware, some aircraft claim to be FS9 compatible but really aren't like the POSKY C-17 on FS2004 military page 32. Someone really needs to make a C-17 for FS9...

That's the same problem. Aircraft created with earlier version of FSDS aren't fully compatable in FS 2004. Nothing to do about that however. The .cfg fix or clicking "No" when the sim warns about incompatable aircraft will get you the flaps and landing gear but nothing seems to get the props to show (at least I've never heard of a fix for that).

One word of caution. Sometimes clicking "No" the the incompatable aircraft warning will dump you to the desktop when you load the airplane. Not many do this. I think I've only run into one or two but beware. If that happens then you are probably best off just uninstalling the airplane and looking for a more recent model.

The acft. I had a problem with was an SR-71. Another poster was asking about the Afterburner, so I downloaded it. I never got a warning about compatability, and no landing OR afterburner. He had landing gear and afterburner.

Someone posted the fix that I described and when I went into the .cfg file, that SR-71 was not listed. I put it in there manually and Voila!! She worky Otay now!!

Props, rotors etc. .....no fix for that if they are not showing as Hagar and the others said.

Some of the acft. you get, you just have to turn around and get rid of are put up with their shortcomings. I generally get rid of them as there are tons of great acft. with everything working.

It's not a problem if you understand the reason behind it. 3rd party aircraft created for FS2000 (including early CFS2 & FS2002 aircraft) with the FSDS1 application & animated with the Aircraft Animator/SDLEdit utilities are not fully compatible with FS9. This is no fault of the authors as these were the only practical modelling applications for creating early 3rd party FS aircraft. They work perfectly well in previous versions of FS, right up to FS9 which moved the goalposts. If possible look for later versions created specifically for FS9 (& CFS2) with FSDS2 or Gmax.
