Fisrt of all hi to all the people on this forum. Ok heres my problem, I started virtual flying around July of this and im enjoying it. So i chose one of the flights from Palermo to Malta so i do manage to flybut landing is the only problem can someone help or even better a step by step guide for this flight

Have you done the ingame flying lessons? The pre flight documentation and the lesson itself should give you a good enough idea about landing.

well landing is not qiute the peoblem but rater the ATC says stay on cource till cross locilaizer but then nothing hapens and a fly past the airport

You have to know the ILS frequency of the rwy you are landing on, and tune it in the NAV radio. like some of the others suggested, best thing is find tutorials on how to make instrument approaches, it isnt hard once you understand it, but to explain it is a booger..... ;D

That's why they have manuals! What they say is "If in doubt, read the manual." I guess it's hard to do that when you are flying at 5000 and the manual is back on the ground. That's why women make better pilots than men, cuz they read the manual 1st. Guys tend to go at it like a bull at the gate and read the manual when they get stuck, or if no-one is looking over their shoulders to give pointers like an instructor. Well, in this virtual flying machine, there's also a virtual flying instructor too. Mind you, he's a little hard to understand, which tends to irritate, but at least he makes you keep your ears open. Best thing about it is he keeps control until he figures you're ready. Give it a whirl, patience is golden and is richly rewarded. ::)

Go to the map, click on the airport, and you will see if there's an ILS frequency to be had! ;D

well yes malta does have a ILS frequency but i just seem to wait for the locilizer but then nothing happens

Trouble is, beginner, it's a 'needle in a haystack' problem - we don't know what you're doing, so we can't tell what you might be missing out!

One thing catches my eye, though.  You said, 'flying at 5,000.'  Rule One about intercepting the ILS is do it from BELOW the glidepath.  Try coming down to 2,000 and it might all fall into place!

If that doesn't work, put a detailed description on of what you are doing at the moment, step by step.  Any of us would be able to help you then!

Yeah Logjam said flying at 5000ft, but that was not really an explanation of GS capture altitude  ::)

is this slowly going on my nerves i feel like throwing away my joystick and smashing my monitor >:( >:( >:(

i think i will never understand this

i set my NAV1 to the runway frequensey what am i doing wrong???

maybe because im using the GPS "system"  insted of the NAV

..Hi Erhard....just one thing when you set the ILS frequency in Nav1 do you realize you set the frequency in the Standby position and have to move it over to the Active position for it to work?..click the double pointed arrow button. Nav suggested 2000 ft  to catch the glideslope so I gave it a try and it all came out just perfect...all lined up for touchdown..also have your speed and flaps set for landing well in advance so you only have slight adjustments if any....Use your gps display as a visual aid for intercepting the localizer but that GPS/nav switch has to be at NAV as Nexus pointed out. ..those green feathers are really helpful ;)

ok i figured out what i was doing wrong i cant belive how stupid i was ;D

had it on"GPS" and not on "NAV" and my runway heading was wrong
