Number 1 thing that could be better: The introduction of a blade element based flight modeling system ala X-plane.
Number 2: MS already had many other companies backing (garmin, bendix-king etc) How difficult would have it been for them to secure some real world airline's co-operations and dumped the ficticious default airlines? Would be nice to see AA/United/Southwest or whatever instead of Soar, Orbit, and World Travel.
Number 3: At the very minimum the airliners should have been equipped with at least a LNAV capable FMC.
It shouldn't be difficult to do. Afterall, various INS gauges are out there which allow LNAV using geo co-ordinates. It should'nt be difficult to develope a simple FMC that works the same way which would asscociate ICAO identifiers with their geo co-ordinates to work the same way a simple INS does(ie: concorde experience, default RFP etc.)
