New PBY Catalina for fs 2004 would be cool

What aircraft have you been unable to find after a long search? There may be an answer!

New PBY Catalina for fs 2004 would be cool

Postby flyingfez » Sun Dec 21, 2003 1:09 am

I would love to see a redone PBY-catalina using all the  new graphic capabilities in fs2004.

Only asking after many hours of trying myself and finding that I have no talent or skill for this sort of thing (much to my dismay)

Looking for the same thing myself. I have spent too many hours searching for this plane and the ones i did find were older and not fully compatible with FS9. Sure would like to have one though.

Do a GST and a KM-2 too (both russian license-built Catalinas)

GST is the stock WW2 russian airforce version (960hp)
KM-2 is the same with 1850hp engines

More info

Photo of engine covers on these machines (actually a Li-2, looks the same Here

Yep the reds had them too.
You can't mess with Ivan when it comes to russian planes.

ViperFlight, that is great news! Looking forward to seeing it. Is it to be Payware or Freeware? If you don't mind me asking.
Wish I could offer my assistance, but besides testing it (hint, hint) I am afraid I would be totally useless.

Hope to see it soon.

Outstanding!!! I look forward to seeing it.
One of my grandfathers brothers "Great Uncles?" was on a Black Cat PBY in the south pacific.

I Love those PBY's would love to own and restore one someday....an albatross or a goose would be nice as well.

Again my appreciation, and I look forward to seeing your work.

A PBY Supercat just left the Museum of Aviation here in my home town.
It was one of the only planes that flew over Kitty Hawk for the Wright Bros. anniversary.
It was the first time I saw one up close, and you can imagine how amazed I was at it's size!! It filled just about the whole museum and dwarfed the numerous other warbirds there!
I hate myself for not taken pictures of it!!! They told me that it wouldn't be returning to the museum because it was set for display elsewhere, Miami I think.
But there is another one flying in soon, it was used in 1943 I think, as soon as it gets here I'll post photos for all to enjoy!

P.S. I just watched Tora,Tora,Tora last night and almost cried at all of them being destroyed on the airstrip!  :'(

Hey again. Sorry I haven't got back to your questions on time. You probably know how hard it is to deal with family coming over this time of year, so I have not been online since Christmas eve.

However, I have started working on the PBY and though it has not taken full shape yet it is moving torward the objective.

Thanks again, and Happy New Year

Right now, I am doing the variant with the observation tower. I have the 3 views for that one but not the armed one. However, I need to find some detailed pictures of its weapons inorder to add the weapons to the PBY. If any one know where good, detailed pics can be found please let me know.
Thanks,
Wes

Here you go Viper! Try this page, it is a page of links for info on the PBY Catalina. If there is any specific info you need on this plane that you can not find please feel free to ask here or private message me as I have a rather extensive collection of Catalina info.

here is that link for you: http://www.daveswarbirds.com/blackcat/weblinks.htm
